Location:
North side of Highway 34 between Highway 287 and Taft Ave.

Description:
A tax day exercise of our first amendment right. We will be lining the street (on the sidewalk) waving signs and flags. We will have three tables along the way set up. The first near the parking lot/boat ramp on Lake Loveland. At this spot we will also have a pickup truck for the purpose of collecting non-perishable food items to benefit the House Of Neighborly Service. The second location will be near the inlet bridge on the lake, not necessarily on the walking path, for handing out tickets for door prizes and taking a head count. The third table location will be at the South Shore Scenic Park, where we will be signing a petition to send to D.C. and holding the drawing for the door prizes. Last year there were so many more people than we had expected that we decided for safety sake we would spread out instead of being only at 287 & 34.

Information and details will be posted on the Tea Party web-site; www.loveland912project.org

Estimated Attendance: 1000

Last year this event had 1000 people on 287 and 34. For safety reasons this year we decided to march between 287 and Taft. We are not going to be "gathering" in any certain areas. People will be coming and going and walking the distance from 287 to Taft (or some portion thereof). Along the way there will be three stopping points. One by the boat ramp for folks to drop off their food items for a food drive to benefit the House of Neighborly Service. A second one near the bridge to pick up a ticket for a drawing so we can get a head count. And a third near South Shore Scenic Parkway to sign a petition to be sent to D.C. People will be encouraged to car pool & park in surrounding neighborhoods, much like when people go to parades. Since this is such a large area, I am sure this will all be spread out. We do not want to take up the parking at Scenic or Webster. As far as the restrooms...there were no restrooms last year. We are only going to be doing this for two hours so I imagine folks will go before they come and if they have to go during will go home. We are planning on only being on the north side of the street. It will be much like when people go to watch the fireworks and are only there for a short period of time. We will be on the sidewalks except for the two tables so not as to block the sidewalk. If you have any other questions please feel free to call me. Jeanette 663-5978. Or send me a contact person and I would be glad to call and address any of your concerns. Thanks

Parks & Recreation

Status: Approved     Status Date: 2/23/2010

Comments on 2/23/2010: 1,000 visitors is a large gathering even when the event is spread between three locations and even when it is "come and go." South Shore Parkway and Dwayne Webster Park do not have adequate parking and sanitation facilities for an event of this magnitude. What arrangements have been made to accomodate parking and sanitation? Please advise.
